Gautam Gambhir set to rejoin Team India on June 17 in England

India head coach Gautam Gambhir, who had rushed back home due to a family medical emergency, is set to link up with the team in England on June 17. The first Test of the five-match Test series will start from June 20.While head coach Gautam Gambhir was away, India’s assistant coaches Sitanshu Kotak, Ryan ten Doeschate, and Morne Morkel took charge of the team for a four-day intra-squad game against India A in Beckenham.Gambhir, along with newly appointed captain Shubman Gill, was grappling with multiple selection dilemmas ahead of the five-Test series against England. The retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have left key vacancies in the batting line-up.There were also tough choices to be made in the bowling department, with one among Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna expected to be left out, in addition to a probable exclusion between allrounders Shardul Thakur and Nitish Reddy.The Indian team paid tribute to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash by donning black armbands and observing a minute’s silence on the first morning of the match.More to follow..
